On the Road Again...

One of my goals in life is to visit all 50 states (I’ve made 30 so far), so this spring break I headed off to the Natural State, Good Ole’Arkansas with one of my best friends in the whole world! Woo Hoo! While the state is filled with natural beauty, we did have some interesting finds along the way. I want to share a few of them here with you!

First of all, I’d like to share with you what my friend Bobbie and I have dubbed, “The Hubcap House.”

We were driving to what is known in Arkansas as a Natural Bridge (I'd call it a rock with a hole in it) when, Shazam!! We found this lovely site! If that weren’t enough, as we were driving through Eureka Springs, a popular tourist town, we came across this in front of one of the homes there. (Oh I hope I haven't just insulted anyone; if you have this in front of your house, I think its completely normal to have your tub outdoors. More about that to come.)

Later, we came to a beautiful serene, glass chapel. We went inside and were greeted by a sweet woman who asked us to come in and take a seat. “Amazing Grace” was playing gently in the background as people throughout the chapel were praying silently. I was thinking how peaceful this place was and how reverent the atmosphere. I could have sat there forever, listening to the quiet music and meditating on the Lord’s goodness. I looked to my left and saw a Bible. I was contemplating picking it up to read …when all of a sudden I hear Hank Williams singing, “Hey Good Lookin’ Whatcha got cookin…” Oh No! I was mortified! It was my friend, Bobbie’s phone going off. Trying to stifle my laughter as Bobbie reached to turn off her phone I hear a voice on the other end saying, “Hello. Hello.” She had hit the speakerphone instead of turning it off. I couldn’t contain myself any longer. I ran out of the chapel and died laughing! Of all the songs to play during in this worshipful atmosphere…oh well, I only hope God was looking down laughing with us.

These next photos need no introduction…just remember, we are in Arkansas.

Perhaps one of the most memorable parts of the trip was joining the Outdoor Shower Club. Below is a picture of the shower at our cabin. Evidently, outdoor bathing is more common that I first thought in the Natural State.

Needless to say, we had a great adventure. Now I just have to decide where to go to next. I'm thinking New Mexico and Arizona to finish off the southern half of the nation. Hmmmmm. Any suggestions???

LOL! Believe it or not that's on my radar. I've been before but I have several friends who live out there now, maybe I will.

If/when you travel to AZ, I suggest you go to Sedona and visit the chapel in the rock (or on the rock).

Just found your blog, and I will be back. Have a good day.
